economy of Salmon Arm. The indoor pool and spa at the recreation
center and public auditorium add to the possibilities of family

shoreline. This makes it ideal for luxury lake cruising in a
houseboat, or just spending time at one of the many beaches. The
scenic wharf located in the downtown core, together with its
nature trails make it an ideal site for bird watching. The
beaches, numerous provincial parks, championship golf courses,
mountains for hiking and skiing make the Shuswap area an ideal
place to live and visit.

sawmills, planer mills, and maintenance and shipping departments.
Reforestation is a prime concern with approximately 1 million
seedlings planted annually.
The Shuswap has a manufacturing industry ranging from building
log homes to wine and cheese production, houseboat construction to
producing rubber mats which were used in the Olympics in Atlanta.
CAE Newnes is a technology fabricating plant selling its lumber
processing machinery and metal fabrications throughout the world.
Agriculture
also plays an important part in Salmon Arms economy with dairy
farming being the most significant. Fruit growing is also a well
